Deadpool 2 will Reportedly Feature Many Characters

The sequel to last year’s Deadpool has been in production for a little while, and we’re all just keeping our eyes peeled for new details on the project. It’s already been revealed that Cable and Domino will be making an appearance in the movie. As well as those guys making their theatrical debut, we’ll be seeing a return from Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Colossus (Stefan Kapicic), and also Dopinder the Taxi Driver (Karan Soni). Can’t have a Deadpool movie without him.

With all these characters being announced for the sequel, it kind of makes you think this is going to be some kind of X-Force team up or something. Well you can put those thoughts to rest, because writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have made it clear that this will still be very much Deadpool’s story, and they’re being careful with it this time around (hat tip to Deadline):

“Yeah, it’ll be a solo movie. It’ll be populated with a lot of characters, but it is still Deadpool’s movie, this next one. We’re pushing forward very hard. I think by every account we will shoot it this year, and we’re on our multiple draft now. It’s taken different twists and turns, but it’s really coalescing, and we’re very, very excited. We’re a little nervous, because now we feel like we have to live up to the first movie, but at the same time, we have to have faith, and we have an extreme passion still, and as long as we have passion still, and it’s not a mercenary, venal play, which we don’t think this is, I think we’ll be in good shape.”

A movie with as much creative freedom and breathe room as Deadpool had was almost guaranteed a sequel. Of course, with a sequel, they’d have to be careful to follow some of the same formulas that we’re used in it’s predecessor, or people probably wouldn’t enjoy it as much. As well as that, we’re glad that even though this film seems to be littered with characters, we can still expect a story that puts the main focus on the Merc with a Mouth. Let’s all just hope it holds a candle to the first one.
