Way back in June, it had been announced that The Force Awakens star John Boyega would be leading the sequel to 2013’s Pacific Rim. It was a very welcomed announcement, that was only sweetened when it was also announced that Boyega’s character would be the son of Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elba’s character), who was sort of a badass in the first film.
The film had begun filming shortly after that, and we had received a small glimpse of Boyega’s character through pictures that hit the web (like the one above), but now, the internet has provided us with a new look at his character, but this time he’s decked out in Jaeger Pilot suit – which are the costumes that humans wear to control their giant fighting robots. Check the image out below:
What’s most interesting about this image is that for one, the person who took the picture isn’t quit sure if it’s John Boyega himself, or a stunt double for his character. It’s obvious though, that he’ll eventually be a Jaeger Pilot in this film based off this image alone. The second interesting thing is that the suits look slightly different that the first film’s suits. Maybe they got a slight upgrade?
Regardless, we’re excited to see more images in the future. Tell us what you think about this one, and what you’re looking forward to in the film in the comment section below!
Pacific Rim: Uprising is scheduled to release on February 23rd, 2018.
