Nowadays whenever a film studio has an idea about a movie, it seems like the main focus is to turn it into a franchise before they even get the first film out. Apparently Disney and Lucasfilm are no exception to that.
The news of a young Han Solo anthology film being in development is nothing new at this point, and after many applicants auditioned for the part (over 2,500 actually), Alden Ehrenreich ended up landing the part. Now this film isn’t set to come out until mid-2018, but if these rumors are accurate, we’re going to see Ehrenreich in the role for at least two more films.
The rumor comes from New York Daily News. They stated that an unnamed source has confirmed that Ehrenreich has signed on to three films with Disney, and that “there is a real sense of excitement around the Han Solo movie and its potential.”
While to some this may be seen as overkill, it wouldn’t be surprising at all if this was Disney’s plan. Alden was recently officially welcomed into the Star Wars family during the Star Wars Celebration earlier this month, so maybe we can look forward to seeing more of him as Han Solo in more than one film? Who knows, we’ll have to wait and see what becomes of the rumors.
The Han Solo Star Wars Anthology film is scheduled to release on May 25th, 2018.
