Usually when you think of the story of King Arthur and the sword Excalibur, you may think of the family-friendly Disney movie The Sword in the Stone . Warner Bros. is telling the same story, but it’s not quite as family oriented.
Warner Bros. has released the first official trailer for King Arthur: Legend of the sword during their Comic-Con panel. Sons of Anarchy and Pacific Rim star Charlie Hunnam is playing the titular character, and it looks like he’s not messing around in this movie. Here’s the synopsis for this film:
The bold new story introduces a streetwise young Arthur who runs the back alleys of Londonium [sic] with his gang, unaware of the life he was born for until he grasps hold of the sword Excalibur—and with it, his future. Instantly challenged by the power of Excalibur, Arthur is forced to make some hard choices. Throwing in with the Resistance and a mysterious young woman named Guinevere, he must learn to master the sword, face down his demons and unite the people to defeat the tyrant Vortigern, who stole his crown and murdered his parents, and become King.
Warner Bros. plans to make this story into a franchise, so let’s hope the first film takes off with a good start. Watch the trailer above, and let us know what you think about it in the comment section below.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is scheduled to release on March 24th, 2017.
