Tom Hiddleston Reportedly in Talks to Take on James Bond

Let’s face it: we’ve all seen more than enough James Bond films than almost any other film franchise. 54 years, 24 movies, and 7 actors later, and it doesn’t look like 007 is down f0r the count just yet. Sure, people got tired of the franchise back in ’02 after Die Another Day when Pierce Brosnan was in the role, but once the franchise was rebooted with Casino Royale in ’06  (Daniel Craig in the role at that point), everyone wanted more. Craig played the role for the past decade, but it looks as if he’s finally done with it. Nothing is certain yet, but of course with the news of him possibly backing down from the films, people are going to speculate about the next actor to take on the role of Agent 007, and it looks like one actor is at the forefront of those speculations.

BMD claims to have received an exclusive which states that Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers, Crimson Peak), is in talks to play James Bond after Craig. We know that Hiddleston has been very adamant about wanting the role, so hearing that he may have talked to Eon Productions (the studio behind all the Bond films), wouldn’t be surprising at all.

Hiddleston is mostly known for his role in the Thor films as Loki, the God of Mischief.  We know he’s going to appear in the next Thor film, but it’s not sure just how long his contract with Marvel Studios will last. However if it’s not that long, it’d free up his schedule and let him star in this separate film franchise. That is, if these reports even come to fruition, and if Daniel Craig is actually done with the franchise all together. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

You can catch Hiddleston in The Night Manager, a mini-series on AMC.

The next James Bond film is currently untitled and has no release date, but we’ll let you know as soon as it does.
