X-Men: Apocalypse is currently playing in theaters worldwide, and fans are getting their first-second look at many X-Men characters, as well as their first look at a few other ones. One of the characters that fans got their first look at is Psylocke, who was played by Olivia Munn. For those who saw Apocalypse, then you know that the future is uncertain for Psylocke by the end of the film, but we do know she’ll at least be around if they want to use her in future films. One film that most people think she’ll make her return in is X-Force, a which is still in very early development.
There have been multiple versions of X-Force comics released, but one of the best runs was Uncanny X-Force (which was released in 2010). The team in those comics was composed of Wolverine, Archangel, Fantomex, Deadpool, and Psylocke, Of course the characters would probably have to be altered a bit (seeing as how s0me of them haven’t even been seen in films yet), but both Deadpool and Psylocke just recently made their first on-screen appearances (yes, we’re pretending that we didn’t meet Wade Wilson in X-Men Origins), so the likelihood of seeing those two on screen together is pretty high. This shouldn’t come as a shock, but of course Olivia Munn wants to see both characters team up in the X-Force film,
While speaking to USA Today, Munn spoke on her desire to see the characters clash on film:
“That would be a really cool thing to do. What [Ryan Reynolds] did with Deadpool was genius and I’m so excited for him. It would definitely be cool to see Deadpool and some of the other X-Men characters gather for an X-Force movie. I think that’s what the whole world is coming to — everybody unites together, right? It’s never just one character anymore. We all just become one movie.”
It wouldn’t be too hard to sell this idea, seeing as how the Deadpool sequel will feature Cable, the mutant son of Cyclops who can travel through time. They could easily travel back to the time period where Psylocke leaves off after Apocalypse. They’d need a reason for all this of course, but hopefully you see what we’re getting at. It’s all in the hands of 20th Century Fox to see if the characters will appear in the same film, we’re very hopefully that they will though. It’d be a real treat and a huge fan service.
X-Men: Apocalypse is currently playing in theaters worldwide; X-Force has yet to receive an official release date; Deadpool 2 (titled pending) has also received no release date.
