A new trailer has surfaced for the third film in the rebooted Star Trek franchise, Star Trek: Beyond. This is the second official trailer that’s been released to the public, and this time around it introduced us to mostly new footage, and a new tone as well. The music in the first trailer was Sabotage by The Beastie Boys, which made it seem as if the film would be heavy on the comedic side and that the danger wouldn’t be that serious. It was very reminiscent of Guardians of The Galaxy, and that formula doesn’t work with every film. However, this time around, there’s a dramatic orchestral fanfare playing in the background as scenes of the USS Enterprise being attacked and boarded by aliens take place. The stakes seem higher, and it actually helps the marketing of the film overall. We don’t wanna spoil it, so you can view the trailer for yourself above, and also have a look at a new poster that was also released for the film too:
Synopsis: “Stranded on a hostile planet, Capt. Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto) and the rest of the Enterprise crew face an alien threat.”
Star Trek: Beyond is scheduled to release on July 22nd, 2016.
