It’s very rare that a film based off of a video game ever does well. VERY rare. However we may have a rare case on our hands with this year’s Assassin Creed. Oh yeah, a trailer just dropped for the film too.
The film isn’t based on any of the stories from the games, but rather an original story with an original character. Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) explores the memories of his ancestor Aguilar in 1478 during the Spanish Inquisition.
While it’s not a direct adaptation from the games, it carries many elements, like Abstergo being the corporation behind the operation of the Animus (well, some version of it), which is the machine that allows the user to relive the events of his ancestors.
The trailer showcases some of the classic fighting that we know from the games and very familiar looking areas. The music is a little out of place, but it doesn’t really ruin the mood. We won’t ruin it for you, so watch it above.
Assassin’s Creed is scheduled to release on December 21st, 2016.
