Captain America: Civil War is now in theaters, and fans are getting another look at Black Widow in her fifth MCU film. Her first appearance was in Iron Man 2, and ever since then she’s been a supporting role in each. Her performance in each film has been better than the last. She’s shown countless times that she can hold her own against super soldiers and Gods, so why hasn’t she gotten her own solo film yet? We couldn’t tell you ourselves, but it does seem like this may be happening somewhere down the road.

In an interview with Deadline, Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige comments on the possibility of a solo Black Widow film:

“We’ve announced the next nine movies, ten counting Civil War, through the end of 2019. Where we go beyond that are ongoing discussions that we’ll focus on in the next few years because we have a lot to do before then. Of the characters that you’ve just mentioned I would say certainly the one creatively and emotionally that we are most committing to doing is Black Widow.

We think she’s an amazing character. We think Scarlett Johansson’s portrayal of her is amazing. She’s a lead Avenger and has amazing stories in her own right to tell that we think would be fun to turn into a standalone franchise.

Well if that doesn’t get fans at least excited then i don’t know what will. Obviously we wouldn’t see this movie for a quite a while,  but just knowing that Marvel is finally considering a Black Widow standalone shows they’re trying to expand on their characters more. We’ll just have to wait and see what actually becomes of this.
