The new age of Star Wars movies are steadily being released under the wing of Disney. Last year, The Force Awakens brought the return of the franchise, and also a handful of characters from the original franchise. We got to see Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford all return in their iconic roles. Unfortunately, Ford’s lovable character Han Solo met his demise at the hands of his own son. Fans were okay with that though (not really, some cried. Okay I cried), seeing as how the news of Solo getting a spinoff film that showed him in his younger days. The news of the film has been out for a while, but now we finally know who is set to play the smuggler we all grew up loving.
Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!, Beautiful Creatures) is officially confirmed to be helming the role in the Han Solo anthology film. This story will take place long before he met Luke or Leia in A New Hope. We’re going to see Han Solo grow up and become the character we saw in the original saga. Of course there’s an incredible amount of weight on Ehrenreich’s shoulders, seeing as how this is a fan favorite character, and if his story isn’t done right,he’ll take a lot of heat. All we can do is hope the writers create an engaging story, and also hope that Ehrenreich manages to pull off his first take on the scruffy-looking nerf-herder.
The Han Solo Star Wars Anthology film is scheduled to release on May 25th, 2018.
