Greg Berlanti is the mastermind behind all of the great superhero shows that are on The CW Like Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow, but he’s also responsible for spawning Supergirl on CBS, a separate TV network. The shows on The CW have all been doing pretty good, and have already been greenlit for new seasons. Supergirl on the other hand, has yet to receive an order for a second season.
The show started off strong, but each episode got lower and lower ratings as it progressed. But once the show had a crossover episode with The Flash, it’s ratings spiked again, only to eventually recede once more. And since there have been budget cuts over at CBS, it’s not exactly easy to get a new season approved when you don’t have the resources. This begs the question: could Supergirl be making its way to The CW to help improve ratings? That’s the rumor being thrown around.
The Wrap has reported the news, but take it with a grain or two of salt. This is all speculation due to the success of the crossover episode and the fact that the show could benefit from this switch. However, it could also suffer. The CW does it’s filming for Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow in Vancouver, and since Supergirl is based in LA, it would require everyone to relocate, and also National cry would probably get a new look, and have to be integrated into the Arrowverse throwing off the continuity of the whole show. Whether or not Supergirl will even get a second season is still unknown though, so we’ll have our ears to the ground and let you guys know what becomes of this.
