A new Superhero film is currently being brought to life on the big screen, and neither Marvel or DC are involved.
Irredeemable, an American comic book story from Boom! Studios is being adapted to film by Fox Studios. The original story is centered around the Plutonian, who was once the world’s greatest superhero until he started slaughtering and dictating the people of earth with an iron fist. After this, The Paradigm, the Plutonian’s former team and colleagues seek out ways to stop him, and even go as low as to enlist the help of a former enemy to take him down.
We’ve seen relatively unknown properties brought to the big screen before. Guardians of The Galaxy and Ant-Man were both not well known characters by casual moviegoers, but they still managed to be successful. Irredeemable, on the other hand, is even less known than either of those two. Even some die hard comic book fans will not have heard of this story before, so Fox has a lot of work to do. Things are looking good for them though, seeing as how Tommy Wirkola (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters) is set to be the film’s writer, and Ant-Man co-writer Adam McKay is locked in to direct. We can only hope that the final product will resemble the story and be a success.
Irredeemable has yet to receive a release date.
