Ever since they made their huge reveal about all the films and characters they had slated for “Phase 3” of their cinematic universe, Marvel Studios hasn’t exactly been forthcoming with any information about Captain Marvel, Marvel’s first female Superhero leading and staring in a film of her own. What we do know about the film is that we have two writers in place: Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve (The Good Dinosaur). They’re both going to be great parts to the story, since they’re writing it, but you can’t really have a movie without a main actor/ actress in place and a director to..well..direct. But worry not! It looks like we’re finally going to get a clue as to who will be helming both of those positions very soon.
In an interview with Fandango, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirms that we can expect some announcements pertaining to the film within a few months:
“I think we’ll be announcing a filmmaker in the next month or two, and probably some cast members later in the summer, at the end of the summer.”
Later, they ask him some questions about what we can expect from the film, plot-wise, and he gives a very bland and vague response, confirming that it will be an origin story “about Carol Danvers and that journey to being Captain Marvel.” Way to shed light on the information, Feige.
Of all the news, fans are most excited about who is actually going to play Carol Danvers/ Captain Marvel herself. The names that have been thrown around a lot are Jessica Chastain and Emily Blunt and at one point…Ronda Rousey, and Angelina Jolie has even been rumored to direct the film, but obviously nothing is confirmed just yet. Let us know in the comment section below who you want to director and star in the film though.
Captain Marvel is scheduled to release on March 8, 2019.
