After months of delays and even rumors of even being scrapped altogether, Iron Fist is finally happening. This will be the fourth Marvel/ Netflix series, and will also be one of the shows that eventually leads to the Netflix series, The Defenders.
We don’t know too much about the show so far, but just recently we learned that Finn Jones had been cast in the titular role, and would be leading the show. We now have another confirmed casting from the show: Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing.
In the comic book world, Colleen Wing is the daughter of a Chinese American New York City professor and a Japanese mother. She grew up raised in the way of the samurai, and is an exceptionally skilled martial artist, swordswoman, and detective. She also served as an ally and good friend of both Danny Rand/ Iron Fist, and Luke Cage during many multiple situations.
Henwick is best known for her role in the fifth season of Game of Thrones – another show her and Finn Jones were on together – as Nymeria Sand, one of the “Sand Snakes”, and also her minimal role as Jess Testor, X-wing pilot for the resistance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Having a background in Martial arts and a pretty good record of film and TV appearances, it looks like she’s a great fit for the role, we’re just hoping her acting is good enough to bring the character to life in the best way.
Iron Fist has not yet received an official release date.
