A few weeks back we caught wind of some news that actress, singer, and model Zendaya Coleman had been cast in the third reboot for Spider-Man, which is set it release in 2017. When the news initially debuted, she hadn’t announced it herself, it was just a bunch of sources on the internet. But now the actress has come forward and made a statement about it.
Zendaya was recently featured on an episode of Ellen, and among other things, she talked about being in the movie, stating “I can’t say anything else other than I’m going to be in it,” and when later asked when shooting will take place, she comments that she has “no idea … to be completely honest.” She then follows up by saying this:
“But it’s very exciting. When it comes to the acting space, I’m basically unknown. I’ve never been in a real movie before or anything like that, so I had to start from the bottom like anyone else. I auditioned and auditioned and auditioned and [broke] down those walls, because a lot of people do have that pre-conceived notion of who I am based off previous things I’ve done, so you got to really break that down and go hard, put in the work, take all the meetings, take all the auditions.”

Zendaya is set to star in the Spider-Man reboot alongside Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Her role is currently unknown, but it’s been reported that while she’s not a love interest for our titular hero, she still has “a key role” in the film. What ever could that mean? Only time will tell.
The Spider-Man reboot – official title still pending – is scheduled to release on July 28th, 2017.
