Late last month, there was a rumored announcement pertaining to the lineup of the Guardians of The Galaxy team for their sequel. While we know that we aren’t losing any of the original team from the film (as of right now anyway), it’s still a mystery who exactly we all can expect to see. Luckily, we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out.
According to writer and director James Gunn, we can expect a casting announcement this week. Teasing the inclusion of a female actress, Gunn said this:
“We have a new cast member playing a new member of the Guardians of the Galaxy and she was the most awesome and easiest person I’ve ever had to cast. She blew me the f*** away. She’s amazing, and I can’t wait to share her with the world.”
With Gunn finally coming forward with this himself, it brings some veracity to the widely rumored announcement that Pom Klementieff would be joining the film’s roster as telepathic martial artist, Mantis. At the time that he was questioned, Gunn confirms that this news will be officially made “Next week I believe…Or at least most of them [will be announced].” Obviously “next week” now means this week, so we can expect to get some closure on a lot of the rumors that have been floating around the internet regarding this film. Whether they add Klementieff, or another actress, we can expect them to be a well received and much needed component to the story this time around. And seeing as how the sequel will be a more intimate and personal story, we should expect more fresh faces to join our original band of cosmic misfits.
Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.2 Is scheduled to release on on May 5th, 2017.
