These past two weeks have been full of some huge reveals for comic books fans and moviegoers in general. Last week, we were treated to the first official look at Captain America: Civil War, and now this week we’ve gotten our second official trailer for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.
On Monday, a sneak peak for film was aired during the Gotham Midseason finale. Afterwards, it was announced that there would be an official trailer release on Wednesday on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
In the beginning of the trailer, there’s a scene where both Clark Kent (Cavill) and Bruce Wayne (Affleck) are already taking stabs at each other without even knowing of each other’s secret identity (or maybe Bruce knows Clark’s and is putting on a front). This conversation immediately puts them at odds and makes you think they’re going to just fight throughout the whole movie, and that makes sense via the title of the film. However, judging by the end of the trailer, it looks like they’re both going to kiss and make up by the end of the film. It’s still unknown what will actually happen that leads them to fight, and also what will eventually cause them to break bread and come to a truce.
Some fans have already been complaining that the trailer showed way too much. We saw some previously seen footage in this trailer, but they did include new scenes of the battle between big blue and the dark knight. We got another good look at Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman arriving to aide Superman and Batman in a battle, followed by a humorous exchange between the two as to came with Wonder Woman. As well as that, we got one of our biggest reveals that has been hovering as a rumor for the longest: Doomsday. His reveal was kind of big and unexpected this early on, and it was received with mixed reviews. Some feel as though he doesn’t resemble his comic book counterpart enough, and looks like a cheap, second-rate version of Abomination, as seen in 2008’s live-action Hulk film.
Cyborg, Aquaman, and The Flash (possibly) were said to be in this film too, however we’ve still gotten no shots of them in action, which is good. This trailer would’ve been too crowded for us to even appreciate those other guys in full.
This trailer didn’t fail to excite though, and fans are definitely more excited than ever for the release of the film. It’s going to be a groundbreaking experience, since this will be the first time both Batman and Superman are seen in a live-action film together.
What do you guys think though? Has it lived up to the hype so far? Did they show too much? Is Wonder Woman as badass as ever? Does Doomsday not look similar enough to the source material? Let us know in the comment section below.
