With Star Wars: The Force Awakens just over the horizon, we’re expecting to see a slew of information and images in the media in the upcoming weeks. It’s very common for Magazines to try and get the actors of films to appear on their magazine covers, and many of the big names did get at least one. However, releasing SIX covers containing the main protagonists and antagonists this week, Empire struck back (yes, we did that and we’re not sorry).
Empire magazine has been teasing fans by steadily releasing images of the film’s characters in preparation of their big Star Wars themed issue that’s releasing tomorrow on November 26th. They just added to the build-up of that issue after dropping these 6 stunning covers.
The covers feature Rey, Captain Phasma, Finn, Poe Dameron, Kylo Ren, and Han Solo with Chewbacca. While these covers don’t really show us anything new about any of the characters, they give us a closer look at everyone, and they give us possibly our best and closest look at Anakin Skywalker/Luke Skywalker’s old blue lightsaber, which is now being used by Finn. Also, this is the first time seeing Captain Phasma in any promo where she’s in a new environment.

Han Solo and Chewbacca are the only characters from the original saga that have received one of these covers, but it’s because apparently they play a big part in this story as well. Surprisingly no sign of Carrie fisher’s General Leia, since she also plays a big role in the war efforts in this new film. It’s not a problem though, since these films are going to be focusing on the struggles of this newer generation anyway. Still no sight of Luke though, but at this point that’s to be expected. We’ll just have to wait until the theatrical release to see his fate.
The issue is going to include interviews with the cast, director J.J. Abrams, and even Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. It’s going to be a must have for hardcore fans, and all of those who love the films.
Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens is scheduled to release on December 18th, 2015.
