Yes, the title may be a bit confusing right off the bat. We already know that Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) is making an appearance in next year’s Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. We’ve also already received images of her in the film, and seen her in the trailer. However, this “first look” that we’re speaking of is our first look at her in her own solo outing, which is scheduled for a 2017 release.
Probably the best thing about this image being revealed to the world is that Gal Gadot, the actress in the titular role tweeted the picture out herself, and added a somewhat sentimental caption: “Almost 75 years in the making… #WonderWoman is underway.”
You can check the photo out right here:
This get-up is probably going to be used in a scene where the Amazon Princess’ attempts to blend in to a normal society, since her costume can (and most likely will) warrant unwanted attention. She isn’t necessarily doing the best job though, since her bracelets and Tiara are pretty visible.
We’ve already seen Wonder Woman in costume in the Batman v Superman trailer, but the Wonder Woman film is said to be based before the events of that movie, so it makes sense that she’s not just prancing around in her flashy costume, since the world isn’t exactly used to that kinda stuff just yet.
Following the release of this image, Warner Bros. decided to drop a press release in conjunction, basically saying “production on the film has started, and here are some of the supporting actors.” (We tried to spare you from reading the rather lengthy release, but you can read it here if you please). Some of those actors mentioned in the list include Chris Pine (Star Trek), Robin Wright (House of Cards), Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), David Thewlis (The Theory of Everything), Ewen Bremner ( Snowpiercer), Saïd Taghmaoui (American Hustle), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In) and Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead).
While none of these actors are necessarily A-listers or even that well known (besides Pine), they’ve all got a lot of talent and make for a great ensemble for a any film. One of the things we noticed is that there’s no mention of Nicole Kidman, Sean Bean, or Eva Green, three actors who were rumored to have roles in the film. Seeing as how they weren’t included, this means the rumor has either been debunked and deemed false, or they’re just holding out these guys for a later reveal. After all, they’re kind of the A-listers compared to the rest of the bunch so it would make sense to keep this held in for a bit longer. However with production and filming officially underway, it won’t be long before something gets leaked onto the web, so we’ll find out the truth soon enough.
How do you guys feel about our first look at the Amazon Princess in her solo outing though? Also, how does this cast look to you? Would you replace anyone and add someone else? Let us know in the comment section below.
Wonder Woman is scheduled to release on June 23rd, 2017.
