On Marvel’s small screen side of their cinematic universe, one of their successful shows, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., is compiled with many actors, and great actors at that, but besides Ming-Na Wen (mostly known for her role as Chun-Li in Street Fighter) they aren’t (or technically, weren’t) very well known actors. It looks like they plan to change that up by adding what should be a pretty well known face to their cast.
Mostly known as the chairman on Iron Chef America, and Wo-Fat on Hawaii Five-O, Mark Dacascos has been confirmed to appear in the series, and as a recurring character. Undoubtedly, the best news about this is rather than another bad guy to the pack of villains in the show, it looks like Dacascos will be playing a good guy, unlike his role on Hawaii Five-O. Coulson’s team needs all the help they can get, so they’ll probably receive him with no complaints.
According to reports by Deadline, Dacascos’ character will be named Giyera, a man who has signed on the new head of security for S.H.I.E.L.D. Given the fact that he has an extensive past in martial arts, he’ll probably be doing most of his own stunt. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. seems to be increasing the number of action sequences they have in the show, so having as many skilled actors to take part in these sequences seems to be the best course of action to take. Hopefully Mark’s contribution to the show will be a fruitful one.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs on ABC every Tuesday at 9pm CST.
